Our first lambs of 2013 are here!
Last year's crop of lambs sold out.
We thank the many buyers who supported us.
We sell both registered lambs and locker lambs.
If you are interested in a 2013 lamb, either as breeding stock or as locker lamb, we suggest early reservations as quality Dorpers are always in high demand.
We started out wanting sheep to help us practice herding with our German Shepherd Dogs without having to travel to a training facility.
Little did we know that would eventually mean building a new barn, putting up lots of fencing, buying equipment and spending lots of time researching sheep.
After lots of herding experience and lots more research, we decided to purchase some high quality Dorpers.
Our requirements:
The Dorpers are a perfect fit.
Just like with the dogs, we purchased the best sheep we could find. These sheep are proving to be everything we had wanted. They are excellent mothers, produce lambs that eat well, grow well, and do not get stressed out when we work them. And they are good eating! ...and best of all, they like being worked by the dogs. The tending style of herding is all about keeping the sheep grazing and gaining weight and that's just fine with the sheep! |
